Just appeared for 10th grade exams from ISCE board and so I know ho difficult it can be to cope up with exams. Exam season means frayed tempers and raw nerves for many. Exams are a time when stress levels are higher than usual. You can make stress positive, helping you to stay motivated and focused. However, too much stress can make you feel overwhelmed, confused, exhausted, and edgy. Then, it is difficult to concentrate and study. Being fully prepared for your exams is the most effective way to overcome feelings of stress and anxiety. But if this is so, there would be no exam stress at all.
Here are some things you can do to cope with exam stress.
- Positive mental attitude: Be confident in yourself. Stop worrying as it will do you no good and instead tell yourself that you can do it. Self belief really works wonders. It does to me.
- Plan: Good planning and a realistic revision schedule can turn a heavy workload manageable. And knowing you have a schedule can help you manage your nerves.
- Effective Study Habits: Make a to-do list. Make a list of the chapters you have to study for each subject. Before each study session, make a list of smaller and manageable tasks. Also take into consideration the time you have to do it in. Cross them off as you proceed.
- Take Regular Breaks: It is important to have regular study breaks and time for relaxation. Going for a walk, or talking to your parents or watching TV is a great way to clear your head and help you study better.
- Talk: Talk to people (especially parents) about your feeling—confusion, anxiety, worry, tension, fear, etc. They can offer some advice or help. Even if they can’t just talking about the ay you feel ill help you feel better.
- Look After Yourself: It’s easy to let exams get on top of you and to forget to look after yourself. Get a good night’s sleep.
- Stay calm: What we don’t know is, when we panic the middle and higher brains are being squeezed. So there is less chance of remembering. Calming yourself relaxes the brain and information starts to. Use relaxation techniques to control anxiety. Try deep breaths, and massage the temples, and behind your ears to increase blood flow to the brain.
- Avoid cramming: Last but not the least the night before your exam, avoid cramming. Just relax, listen to soft music, pack your bags, and be ready for the next day. Having a good night’s sleep will be beneficial.
I hope you have received some valuable tips on coping with exam stress…. Just in time. Wishing you all the very best for the exams next week. Thank you very much and have a great day.
